It’s easy to lose a good hour (or two) when you find an amazing hair colorist on instagram. Endless transformation pics are enough to give anyone hope that maybe it is possible for our mediocre tresses to be revamped into golden sunkissed waves – you know, the kind that make you drool all over pinterest.
This is exactly what happened to me when my sister introduced me to Samantha Cusick’s insta-feed. As someone who is obsessed with trawling social media for pretty beauty and hair-spiration, in just 10 minutes of discovering the salon I was 58 weeks into their feed and quickly filling up my phone with countless screenshots of uh-mazing hair colours for inspo.
After the endless insta-stalking I decided to book in an appointment. Specialising in a colouring tecnique called Bayalage, it’s a style I’ve always wanted to try but in the past have shied away from out the fear that it might not suit me or that I wouldn’t get the same results as the girls on my instagram feed.
After arriving at the salon hidden in the depths of Portobello I was greeted by two adorable bulldogs Sydney and Archie, and a front desk/cocktail bar.
The salon is one of the coolest id been to with banana leaf wallpaper and flowers lining the ceiling, It really was love at first sight!
Rachel, the hair colorist I’d booked in to see, sat me down with a drink and helped me decide what I wanted to do with my grown-out bleach highlights to make sure I achieved the perfect bayalage.
In just four hours, two green teas and plenty of ‘awwwhs’ over Sidney and Archie, Rachel had transformed my dull hair into an cool, beachy blonde ‘do. I couldn’t recommend the salon enough for anyone who is after bayalage styled hair. I for one will definitely be returning!
You can book in for your very own little pamper session here – enjoy!
