Mini break to the Cotswolds

June 25, 2016

To celebrate finishing university a group of some of my closest friends and I decided to arrange a trip together. After searching for places to stay and trying to find a date that worked best with everyone’s busy schedules we came across this beautiful waterfront house in the Cotswolds.

The Lakes by Yoo, a 650 acre private estate, was home for us during our 3 night mini break. Our house was amazing with views looking out onto Lechlade river. Each room was beautifully designed and furnished. We also had access to a boat and canoes, which provided a lot of fun on the lake, I mean, who doesn’t love a good canoe race?! The lakes by Yoo offer a full concierge service, a range of activities and access to the luxurious spa, The Orchard, filled with Bamford & Oskia therapies…it really is Center Parcs for the A-List! The Lakes is primarily a luxury, gated community of homes, designed for peace and relaxation. So if you’re looking for awe inspiring views, incredible interior design, relaxation in abundance and fresh air, as well as spending an incredible few days with friends this is the right place for you. It is full of the stuff that rekindles childhood memories.

There really are no words to describe how fun and beautiful the place is so I’m going to leave it to the photos to do the talking.

The downstairs area of the house was beautifully furnished and filled with everything we needed and more!

The bedrooms were beyond dreamy with the most amazing views looking out onto the lake, it definitely made getting out of bed in the morning that extra bit harder. The master bedroom even had a hot tub bath big enough for a small village!

Before our trip we split the group into two teams. From this we were given a night to host. This included creating a theme for the night and then cooking dinner and providing entertainment for the group. My teams night was the first evening. We went for a Bollywood theme. After putting on our best Indian looking outfits and sari’s for the evening we were ready to take on the cooking part of the night. We made a chicken tikka masala as our main course and a white chocolate and passion fruit cheesecake for desert.

The rival team hosted the second night of the trip with an American Hustle theme. They sneakily bought a pre-made ‘cook’ meal (cheaters), which was a chicken and mushroom lasagne and served brownies and shortbreads for desert.

After the meals on both nights we then spend the nights playing various games and getting stuck in with the drinks.

For the rest of the meals of the trip we enjoyed various BBQ’s, pub lunches and brunches in restaurants in the little village near by.

I for one had the most amazing time and made so many memories with my favourite people, I cant wait to return!
